The CSIC (Spanish National Research Council) is Spain's largest public research institution and ranks third among Europe's largest research organizations. The Instituto de Ganadería de Montaña (IGM, Mountain Livestock Institute) is a mixed center of shared ownership between CSIC and the University of León (ULE) and was created to promote research in the North of Spain in nutrition, production, and animal health, mainly of ruminants. The activity of this center is also focused on the environmental impact of livestock systems and the quality of the products obtained (meat and milk).
In vivo studies to assess the response of goats (e.g., feed efficiency, resilience against heat stress, mitigation of GHG emissions…) to alternative feedstuffs. CSIC also provides samples to WP2 (heat stress biomarkers, biochemical profile) and WP6 (-omics, milk and meat quality).
