Boudjebel S.A. VACPA (Valorization and Packaging of the Agricultural Product) was founded in 1982 by the Boudjebel family, which has been basically specialized in the export of citrus fruits since 1957. Since then, the general management direction has turned towards a miracle fruit as symbolic as it is local to the North African basin. Currently, Boudjebel is the world's leader in the export of Deglet Nour dates and exports other date varieties all around the world.
Date cultivation and manufacturing generate large amounts of date-palm by-products (DPBP) such as leaves, floral stems supporting date regimes, wasted dates, and stones. These DPBP are classically used as a complementary feeding source for livestock. However, little is known about traditional practices and methods for local improvement of the use of DPBP. In The Project Boudjebel, VACPA will provide the needed quantity of DPBP in raw or ground form.
