The laboratory of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants (LPAM) from the Center of Biotechnology of Borj Cedria (CBBC), located at the Technopole of Borj Cedria, Tunisia, focuses on the phytochemistry and valorization of bioactive compounds from aromatic and medicinal plants. Our methodology is consisting in the development of innovative "green" extraction methods, fractionation and analysis of bioactive molecules, the evaluation of biological activities of plant extracts and essential oils (antioxidant, antimicrobial, cytotoxic, etc); the optimization of plants cultivation for the production of bioactive compounds and, finally, the stabilization and valorization of their bioactive molecules as health products.
LPAM is responsible for the phytochemical investigation of traditional as well as novel and innovative goat feeds. Several tests concerning biomolecule identification and biological activities assessment are planned. Also, LPAM is in touch with local traditional industries, providing new feeds such as date seeds.
