In February 2025, the Centre of Biotechnology of Borj Cédria (CBBC), Tunisia’s flagship research institution in the field of biotechnology, marked a significant milestone: 20 years of pioneering science and innovation. Located in the technopole of Borj Cédria near Tunis, the centre has played a key role in advancing Tunisia’s biotechnology ecosystem, facilitating research, education and industry-linkages.

Reflecting on 20 Years

Founded in the early 2000s, CBBC has over the past two decades grown to become a regional hub for biotech research, hosting multiple laboratories, technology-transfer units and analytical services. A sponsorship dossier prepared for the anniversary celebration placed the total budget at approximately 100,000 Tunisian dinars, covering revamped venue logistics, communication and public-outreach programmes.

The Anniversary Event

The celebration – scheduled for 18–19 February 2025 – included a ceremonial gathering of partners, sponsors, researchers and industry representatives. As outlined in the organising dossier, the event featured:

  • Exhibition spaces with demonstrations of CBBC’s core research and technology platforms (allocated ≈ 25,000 TND)
  • A re-arranged venue and logistics (≈ 30,000 TND)
  • A dedicated media and social-campaign effort (≈ 20,000 TND)
  • Coffee-breaks and catering for attendees (≈ 15,000 TND)
  • Administrative and souvenir costs (≈ 10,000 TND)
