The Laboratory of Pharmacognosy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto (UP) specializes in natural products chemistry and assessment of their biological properties. We focus on the identification of naturally occurring molecules in plants and other natural sources, simultaneously evaluating their impact on signalling pathways relevant for human and animal health. The University of Porto occupies the best place in international rankings among Portuguese Universities, with its Faculty of Pharmacy being highly active and productive as far as scientific research is concerned, testified by 948 publications indexed in ISI Web of Science during the 2019-2021 triennium.
UPORTO leads the WP3 on Traditional and innovative (by)products as feeds with added value. It oversees all activities of the WP and contributes directly to the sampling, extraction, and phytochemical characterization of traditional feeds and the assessment of byproducts' nutritional/biological suitability as goat new feed.
